This year Gina is celebrating 10 years cancer free AND turning 60. Both call for a BIG celebration, and she is throwing her own PARTY with an event called “STEPS OF HOPE.”
Steps of Hope is a 3-day walk (60-miles- 20 miles a day) on Sept 8th, 9th, & 10th. We will be walking to raise money for our Refresh Team Hope and Serving Orphans Worldwide. EVERYONE is invited to participate in making a difference in these two ministries that Gina is very passionate about. Learn more about these ministries here.
There are many ways you can get involved! If you walk ONE mile, all SIXTY miles, or ANYTHING in between, your steps will make a difference.
We are so excited to go on this journey together!
BEFORE YOU SIGN UP TO WALK: First consider your current condition, consult with your doctor, and add a training schedule walk to your weekly calendar. Walking 60 miles requires preparation! Fill out your release form here.
All participants will receive emails with walking tips, location of group training opportunities, and encouragement to help you stay on track.
Business & Individual Sponsors will be recognized with signage and social media shout outs. Contact Gina (Gina@roseheights.org) or (903-372-3234) for more info.

GOALS AND TIPS FOR STEPS OF HOPE TRAINING:
Must be able to walk comfortably for 8 miles on your long day, and 4 miles three days a week.
Must be able to commit to one long day per week, walking continuously for 2-6 hours.
Gina’s Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday: Walk four miles. You can mix up the kind of walk you enjoy, building both speed and endurance.
Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday: You can still enjoy a leisurely stroll or other exercises, but these aren’t training days.
Saturday: Build mileage with a long slow distance walk. Goal is to steady slower pace distance walking.

You may vary the exact days of the week, but you should take a day off between each walking day or take just an easy walk on that off day. Your longest training day should be three to four weeks before STEPS OF HOPE. Then you will taper back mileage as we approach the walk. On the final week before Steps of Hope, walk 2-4 miles every other day so you will fully be refreshed and energized before participating! Check your emails weekly to stay on track.
TEAM HOPE
Three years ago, we launched Refresh Team Hope as an outreach to women who were trapped in shame and homelessness. Once a month Team Hope went out to pray and connect with women that God led us to on the street. Over and over, we have seen Him lead us to the one who needed to hear God loved her.
Through covid, Team Hope struggled with direction and how to continue. But we kept praying. God has positioned us today be able to network and collaborate with local organizations in our community to serve women in crisis with no hope. We surround these women who are our sisters with community, practical help such as food, transportation, lifesaving supplies, and so much more all while sharing and showing the love of Jesus. We’re ministering to and supporting women who are doing the work to change their lives, and one by one we are seeing dignity and honored restored.
SERVING ORPHANS WORLDWIDE
Serving Orphans Worldwide has been part of our Refresh Conference since 2017. Refresh girls already love the work of SOW and for the last 5 years we have been part of making a huge impact globally in orphan care though our partnership with SOW. If you know Gina, you already know orphan care is very close to her heart.
Gina is walking for TEAM HOPE and SERVING ORPHANS WORLDWIDE because she is PASSIONATE ABOUT THEIR WORK.
